Le poteau comprend une série de fibres synthétiques et de renforts mécaniques reliés par une résine polymérisante. Les fibres formant le poteau sont disposées suivant la direction longitudinale du poteau qui est obtenu par un procédé de pultrusion. De façon préférentlelle, les fibres synthétiques sont des fibres de verre et la résine polymérisante est une résine de type polyester ou vinylester.
