A low cost and an environmentally-friendly synthetic firelog is made by mixing specially processed waxed-cardboard or other wax coated papers of varying proportions with a binder/fuel. The binder/fuel consists of a petroleum wax or a mixture of waxes, the nature and extent of which is suitably modified by in situ admixture with the paraffin wax already present in the waxed-cardboard. Sawdust or other wood fillers may also be added. Upon thorough incorporation of the materials, the resulting mixture is extruded, molded, compressed, or otherwise formed, such that the resulting mass is sufficiently solid to hold its shape at normal room temperature.

L'invention concerne une bûche de foyer synthétique bon marché et écologique, fabriquée par mélange d'un carton mince ciré spécialement traité (ou autres papiers couchés cirés de différentes tailles) avec un liant/combustible. Le liant/combustible est constitué de cire de pétrole ou d'un mélange de cires, dont la nature et la teneur sont modifiées de manière appropriée par adjonction in situ d'une paraffine déjà présente dans le carton mince ciré. De la sciure de bois ou d'autres bouche-pores peuvent également y être ajoutés. Après incorporation homogène de ces matières, le mélange obtenu est extrudé, moulé, comprimé, ou autrement formé, si bien que la masse qui en résulte est suffisamment solide pour conserver sa forme à température ambiante normale.
