ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Synthetic phospholipid compounds are disclosed, which compounds are phosphatidylethanolamine polycarboxyl polyalkylene glycols. The compounds are prepared by the reaction of a phosphatidylethanolamine, a polycarboxylic acid, such as succinic or glutaryl anhydride, and a polyalkylene glycol, such as polyethylene glycol. The compounds are useful in solubilizing, in an aqueous environment, water-insoluble compounds.
