ABSTRACT There is provided a synthetic polymer useful as a thickener in aqueous compositions. The polymer preferably comprises the reaction product of methacrylic acid, methyl methacrylate and vinyl acetate in certain specified propor- tions. The thickener is particularly effective in latex paint formulations.
