Remoistenable adhesive compositions comprising an aqueous emulsion of a polymer containing at least about 60% by weight of vinyl acetate, the polymer having been polymerized in the presence of at least about 20% by weight of the monomer(s) of a polyvinyl alcohol, the alcohol characterized in that a 4% solution thereof has a viscosity of 1 to 70 cps at 20°C, and that it is hydrolyzed to a level of 70-100%.
