Disclosed is a container made of a synthetic resin which has a coating film (2) with high gas barrier performance on the inner and/or outer surface of a container main body. The coating film (2) is at least composed of an organic silicon compound layer (2a), which is arranged on the surface of the container main body and contains nitrogen, silicon, carbon, hydrogen and oxygen, and a silicon oxide compound layer (2b) mainly containing a silicon oxide compound.
