Electron sources for a cathodoluminescent lighting system are disclosed. An electron source is a broad-beam reflecting-type electron gun having a cathode for emitting electrons and a reflector and/or secondary emitter electrode and no grids. An alternative electron gun has a cathode having a heater welded to a disk, the disk having an emissive surface on a side facing a dome-shaped defocusing grid and an anode. A lighting system incorporating the electron sources has an envelope with a transparent face, an anode with a phosphor layer to emit light through the face and a conductor layer. The system also has a power supply for providing from five to thirty thousand volts of power to the light emitting device to draw electrons from cathode to anode and excite a cathodoluminescent phosphor, and the electrons transiting from cathode to anode are essentially unfocused. A power-factor-corrected embodiment is also disclosed.
La présente invention concerne des sources d'électrons pour un système d'éclairage cathodoluminescent. Ladite source d'électrons est un canon à électrons réfléchissant à large faisceau, sans grilles, muni d'une cathode d'émission d'électrons et d'un réflecteur et/ou d'une électrode émettrice secondaire. Dans une variante, le canon à électrons présente une cathode pourvue d'un élément thermique soudé à un disque, ledit disque possédant une surface d'émission sur un côté faisant face à une grille de défocalisation en forme de dôme et une anode. Un système d'éclairage intégrant les sources d'électrons possède une enveloppe avec une surface transparente, une anode dotée d'une couche de phosphore destinée à émettre la lumière à travers la surface et une couche conductrice. Le système possède en outre une alimentation électrique destinée à fournir entre cinq et trente mille volts de puissance au dispositif électroluminescent pour attirer les électrons de la cathode à l'anode et exciter un phosphore cathodoluminescent, les électrons transitant de la cathode à l'anode étant alors sensiblement défocalisés. La présente invention concerne également un mode de réalisation avec correction de facteur d'alimentation.
