A radiation system, apparatus and module for the treatment of a fluid is provided, along with a wiper device for removing fouling materials from the exterior surface of the protective sleeves surrounding their respective radiation transmission sources. The module, which includes a vertically stacked array of radiation transmission sources, e.g., ultraviolet lamps, a radiation pervious protective sleeve surrounding each radiation transmission source, a wiper assembly disposed about each protective sleeve, and a support structure about each end of the protective sleeves, may be fixed or detachably retained with the apparatus of the wiper device. A wiping device and a fluid operated linear slide for operation of the wiping device is also provided. A method using a radiation module for the treatment of a fluid while simultaneously removing the material deposited on an array of protective sleeves surrounding their corresponding radiation transmission sources used in the radiation module, is also disclosed.
