Techniques for supporting efficient operation by terminals in a wireless communication system are described. A base station transmits a preamble periodically in each superframe. The preamble includes at least one first OFDM symbol for control information followed by at least one second OFDM symbol for paging information. A terminal receives the first and second OFDM symbols and determines a receiver gain based on the received power of the first OFDM symbol(s), e.g., with an AGC loop having a shorter time constant than the duration of the first OFDM symbol(s). The terminal processes the second OFDM symbol(s) based on the receiver gain to obtain the paging information. The terminal may operate in an idle state, determine superframes assigned to the terminal, sleep between the assigned superframes, and process the first and second OFDM symbols in each assigned superframe to obtain the paging information.
L'invention concerne des techniques favorisant un fonctionnement efficient des terminaux d'un système de communication sans fil. Une station de base transmet périodiquement un préambule dans chaque supertrame. Ce préambule comprend au moins un premier symbole OFDM pour les informations de commande, suivi d'au moins un second symbole OFDM pour les informations de téléappel (paging). Un terminal reçoit les premier et second symboles OFDM et détermine un gain de réception en se basant sur la puissance reçue du(ou des) premier(s) symbole(s) OFDM, ex. avec une boucle AGC ayant une constante de temps inférieure à la durée du(ou des) premier(s) symbole(s) OFDM. Ce terminal traite le(s) second(s) symbole(s) OFDM en se basant sur le gain de réception pour obtenir les informations de téléappel. Le terminal peut fonctionner dans un état inactif, déterminer les supertrames assignées au terminal, être en sommeil entre les supertrames assignées, et traiter les premier et second symboles OFDM dans chaque supertrame assignée pour obtenir les informations de téléappel.
