A system (10) for capturing HAPs/VOCs from an existing or planned air stream and destroying the contaminants in the air stream by microbial degradation is disclosed. In general, the system is composed of a reservoir (14) with a filter structure (12) positioned above it. The filter structure contains a capture or filtration media (18) through which contaminated air or vapors must pass. HAPs/VOCs in the air or vapors are filtered out and absorbed by the capture media. The reservoir contains a tank water bath (WT) that is inoculated with microorganisms that are selected to degrade the hazardous materials or pollutants removed by the capture media. Sprinkler heads (24) above the filter structure spray the filter structure with a sprayed water bath (WS) also inoculated with the microorganisms, whereby contaminants caught in the filter structure are leached out and bioremediated.
L'invention concerne un système (10) destiné à la capture de HAPs/VOCs - hydroxyapathites/composés organiques volatils- contenus dans un flux d'air existant ou prévu et à la destruction des contaminants contenus dans le flux d'air par dégradation microbienne. En général, le système est composé d'un réservoir (14) doté d'une structure filtre (12) supérieure. La structure filtre contient un support de capture ou de filtration (18) pouvant être traversé par l'air contaminé ou les vapeurs. Les HAPs/VOCs contenus dans l'air ou les vapeurs sont extraits par filtration et absorbés par le support de capture. Le réservoir contient un récipient à bain d'eau (WT) inoculé de micro-organismes sélectionnés en vue de la dégradation des matières dangereuses ou polluants retenus par le support de capture. Les têtes de sprinkler (24) au-dessus de la structure filtre aspergent la structure filtre avec un bain d'eau pulvérisé (WS) également inoculé des micro-organismes. Les contaminants piégés dans la structure filtre sont soumis à un lessivage et à une biodégradation accélérée.
