A system (10) and method for collecting data on individual and aggregate use of toilet tissue or other types of rolled absorbent paper in a public washroom includes a sensing system (12) for sensing one or more characteristics of paper use at a particular dispensing location, and a recording system (16) for receiving and recording data from said sensing system, whereby paper use at the dispensing location can be monitored and studied. The system further analyzes (18) the data to determine such things as the total amount of paper used, the duration of pulls on the paper taken by a user and the amount of paper taken by a user per discrete pull.

L'invention concerne un système (10) et un procédé pour la collecte de données relatives à l'utilisation individuelle et globale de papier hygiénique ou d'autres types de papier absorbant en rouleau dans des lieux d'aisances publics. Ledit système comporte un système de détection (12) qui permet de détecter une ou plusieurs caractéristiques relatives à l'utilisation du papier en un point de distribution et un système d'enregistrement (16) qui permet de recevoir et d'enregistrer les données fournies par le système de détection, la consommation de papier sur le lieu de distribution pouvant être ainsi contrôlée et étudiée. En outre, le système analyse (18) les données en vue de fournir des indications telles que la quantité totale de papier utilisé, la durée des tractions effectuées sur le rouleau de papier par un usager, ou encore la quantité de papier consommée par un utilisateur à chaque traction séparée.
