A system and method for compensating for compliance distortions in a positioning device, such as a hexapod machining center, is disclosed. The position device has a movable platform mounted on a plurality of actuators at a plurality of pivot locations. The method comprises the steps of: calculating compliance information of the positioning device; compensating actuator movement commands according to the collected compliance information; and moving the positioning device actuators according to the compensated movement commands.

On décrit un système et un procédé permettant de compenser les distorsions dues à la compliance dans un dispositif de positionnement, tel qu'un centre d'usinage à six pieds.Le dispositif de positionnement comprend une plate-forme mobile montée sur plusieurs actionneurs situés au niveau de plusieurs points d'articulation. Le procédé comprend les étapes suivantes: le calcul des données de compliance du dispositif de positionnement; la compensation des commandes de mouvement des actionneurs en fonction des données de compliance recueillies; et le déplacement des actionneurs du dispositif de positionnement en fonction des commandes de mouvement compensées.
