A method and system of controlling a turbocharger (52, 54) in an internal combustion engine includes monitoring a boost pressure and establishing a turbocharger parameter limit value for the turbocharger parameter. A dynamic engine torque limit value is determined based on the current value of the turbocharger parameter and engine torque is based on engine conditions, and an applied or desired engine torque is limited to the lesser of the dynamic engine torque limit value and the provisional engine torque.

L'invention concerne un procédé et un système de régulation d'un turbocompresseur (52, 54) dans un moteur à combustion interne. Ce procédé consiste à contrôler la pression de suralimentation et à établir une valeur limite pour le paramètre du turbocompresseur. On détermine également une valeur limite pour le couple moteur en fonction de la valeur actuelle dudit paramètre du turbocompresseur et du couple moteur, selon le régime moteur. Ce procédé consiste enfin à limiter un couple moteur appliqué ou souhaité à la valeur limite la plus basse du couple moteur dynamique et du couple moteur provisoire.
