A system and method using both static and transient modeling of power cables coupled with real time measure-ments of distributed temperature profiles of both the cable and it's immediate environ-ment to optimize the current loads of the power cable. The optical fibers used for measuring distributed temperature profiles can be integrated directly into the moni-tored power cables or be deployed along-side the power cables, including using the optical fibers deployed in optical power ground wire systems.

L'invention porte sur un système et un procédé mettant en uvre une modélisation à la fois statique et transitoire de câbles de puissance couplés à des mesures en temps réel de profils de température distribués aussi bien du câble que de son environnement immédiat afin d'optimiser les charges de courant du câble de puissance. Les fibres optiques utilisées pour mesurer des profils de température distribués peuvent être intégrées directement dans les câbles de puissance surveillés ou peuvent être déployées le long des câbles de puissance, y compris en utilisant les fibres optiques déployées dans des systèmes électriques à câbles de garde à fibres optiques.
