The interrogating system (300) sends an interrogation signal out at a first frequency through a transmitter (316) and receives a reply at a second frequency through a receiver (317). The interrogating system (300) is controlled by a microprocessor with a circuit clock (310), and further includes a frequency selector (315), a signal analyzer (318), a data link (314), and a display monitor and control panel (312). The interrogating system (300) calculates target distances using the signals received at the receiver (317).
