A system and method (Figs. 1-2) for dynamically optimizing occupied bandwidth of a direct modulated FM radio is disclosed, in which a remote receiver periodically monitors the received output of a local transmitter and compares the received output occupied bandwidth to a reference level. If the monitored level of the demodulated signal unacceptably exceeds the reference level an error mesage is developed and sent back to the local transmitter to cause the output of the local transmitter to be adjusted to more closely conform to the desired spectrum output mask. An alternative embodiment (Fig. 4) is also disclosed in which temperature and operating frequency are monitored at the local transmitter and a correction factor appropriate for that operating temperature and frequency are applied.
L'invention traite d'un système et d'un procédé (Figs. 1 et 2) permettant d'optimiser de manière dynamique la largeur de bande occupée d'une radio FM à modulation directe et dans lesquels un télérécepteur contrôle périodiquement la sortie reçue d'un émetteur local et compare la largeur de bande occupée par cette sortie à un niveau de référence. Si le niveau contrôlé du signal démodulé dépasse de manière inacceptable le niveau de référence, un message d'erreur est généré et renvoyé à l'émetteur local de manière à régler la sortie de cet émetteur local afin qu'elle se conforme plus précisément au masque d'émission spectrale recherché. Selon un autre mode de réalisation (Fig. 4), la température et la fréquence d'exploitation sont contrôlées au niveau de l'émetteur local et un facteur de correction approprié à ces température et fréquence d'exploitation est appliqué.
