A system and method of managing therapy provided to patients in an institution. The system monitors all aspects of the medication delivery to a patient, as well as other information related to the patient, such as values of vital signs, laboratory results and patient factors such as history, diagnosis, allergies and the like. The system includes one or more databases of information, including institutionally developed rules, guidelines and protocol representing the best medical practices of the institution. The system provides alerts and/or recommendations based on the application of the rules to the information being monitored, and alerts care givers accordingly, providing for dynamic adjustment of the patient's therapy. The system also monitors the status of the alerts, and if no action is taken in a selected period of time, may escalate the priority of the alert and/or halt the delivery of medication to the patient until the alert is resolved.
L'invention concerne un système et une méthode de gestion d'une thérapie destinée à des patients dans un établissement. Ce système permet de surveiller tous les aspects de l'administration de médicaments à un patient, ainsi que d'autres informations concernant ce patient, telles que des valeurs de signes vitaux, des résultats de laboratoire et des facteurs associés au patient, comme ses antécédents, un diagnostic, ses allergies et autres. Le système comporte au moins une base de données d'informations, y compris, des règles développées de manière institutionnelle, des directives et un protocole représentant les meilleures pratiques médicales de l'établissement. Ledit système génère des alertes et/ou des recommandations en fonction de l'application des règles aux informations à surveiller et/ou il permet, par conséquent, d'alerter les soignants, selon l'ajustement dynamique de la thérapie du patient. Ce système permet également de surveiller l'état des alertes et, si aucune action n'est entreprise dans une période de temps sélectionnée, il peut augmenter le degré de priorité de l'alerte et/ou arrêter l'administration de médicaments au patient, jusqu'à ce que l'alerte soit levée.
