A system and method provides a function for editing electronic greeting cards according to an individual's personal preferences by information uploaded by the individual is disclosed. In one embodiment, a sender can prepare uploaded information ready for editing of an electronic greeting card before connecting with the associated web server. The sender then edits the electronic greeting cards he/she desires in the web server. The web server designs e-mail transmissions to include the edited electrical greeting cards based on the formats designed by the sender before forwarding those e-mail transmissions to related receivers as indicated by the sender via a communication link. Recipients can view those e-mails to read the embedded electronic greeting cards from the sender.
