A system for performing the method may include a subscription manager (100) that serves as a client subscription interface, a polling manager (102) for polling (218) the synchronous web server, a filter manager (104) for filtering responses received from the synchronous web service, and a notification manager (106) for forwarding notification messages (232) to the service subscriber. The various managers may be instantiated on one or more servers (108) operated by a notification service provider.
