A system and method for improving FIB milling endpointing operations. The methods involve generating real-time images of the area being milled and real- time graphical plots of pixel intensities with an increased sensitivity over native FIB system generated images and plots. The images and plots are generated with raw signal data obtained from the native FIB system. More specifically, the raw signal data is processed according to specific algorithms for generating images and corresponding intensity graphs which can be reliably used for accurate endpointing. In particular, the displayed images will display more visual information regarding changes in milled material, while the intensity graphs will plot aggregate pixel intensity data on a dynamically adjusting scale to dramatically highlight relative changes in milled material.
L'invention concerne un système et un procédé permettant d'améliorer des opérations d'évaluation de fraisage faisant intervenir un faisceau d'ions focalisé (FIB). Les procédés de l'invention consistent à générer des images en temps réel de la zone fraisée et des restitutions graphiques en temps réel d'intensités de pixels avec une sensibilité accrue par rapport à des images et des restitutions générées par un système FIB natif. Les images et les restitutions sont générées au moyen de données de signal brutes obtenues à partir du système FIB natif. Plus particulièrement, les données de signal brutes sont traitées en fonction d'algorithmes spécifiques de façon à générer des images et des graphiques d'intensité correspondants pouvant être utilisés de manière fiable pour une évaluation précise. En particulier, les images affichées affichent davantage d'informations visuelles concernant les modifications dans le matériau fraisé, alors que les graphiques d'intensité restituent des données d'intensité de pixels cumulées sur une échelle d'ajustement dynamique pour mettre en évidence de façon considérable les changements relatifs dans le matériau fraisé.
