An insert delivery system for use with an automated packaging machine. The system is used to include coupons (320) and the like with products (322) being automatically packaged, such as sliced loaf bread. The system comprises an insert delivery tray, cart conveyor (316), or carousel and magazine combination, a feeder mechanism (331), and an insert placer (318) configured to select an insert (320) from the tray, conveyor (316), or magazine. The insert placer (318) includes a vacuum system (330) and moves linearly. The feeder mechanism (331) is position either perpendicular or parallel to the scoop assembly (360), so as to feed an insert (320) onto the scoop assembly (360) at various points along the path of the scoop assembly.
