A method for determining a direction to an anomaly in a formation surrounding a wellbore using a device comprising at least one transmitter and at least one receiver, the method comprising transmitting electromagnetic signals from the at least one transmitter through the formation surrounding the wellbore; detecting responses the at least one receiver induced by the electromagnetic signals; and determining the direction from the device to the anomaly based on the detected responses. The method may also include calculating at least one of an apparent azimuth angle and an apparent dip angle based on the responses, monitoring the at least one calculated apparent angle over time, and determining the direction to the anomaly after the at least one monitored apparent angle deviates from a zero value.
Un procédé de détermination d'une direction vers une anomalie dans une formation entourant un puits de forage fait l'objet de cette invention et utilise un dispositif comprenant au moins un émetteur et au moins un récepteur, le procédé consistant à transmettre des signaux électromagnétiques à partir d'au moins un émetteur à travers la formation entourant le puits de forage; à détecter les réponses au récepteur induites par les signaux électromagnétiques; et à déterminer la direction depuis le dispositif vers l'anomalie d'après les réponses détectées. Le procédé peut également consister à calculer au moins un angle azimutal apparent et un angle d'inclinaison apparent d'après les réponses, à surveiller au moins un angle apparent calculé dans le temps et à déterminer la direction vers l'anomalie après qu'au moins un angle apparent surveillé soit dévié d'une valeur nulle.
