ABSTRACT System and method for locating resistive faults and inter- connect errors between the conductors of a cable. An alternating magnetic field is applied at successive points along the cable and the signal induced is monitored at one end of the cable. The location of a resistive fault or an interconnect error is indicated by the change in the sensor signal as the field is applied at points on opposite sides of the fault.
