A system and method of providing a dual registration scheme for a mobile terminal (112) in an integrated wireless telecommunications network (102) having a cellular network portion and a packet-switched network (PSN) portion (108). Upon detecting that the mobile terminal is moved into or powered up in the service area associated with a serving system, the serving system proceeds with the registration of the mobile terminal in the cellular infrastructure. Thereafter, suitable messaging is provided by the serving system via a gateway (116) disposed between the cellular and packet-switched network portions to a mobility server (306) disposed in the PSN for facilating mobile terminal's registration therein. The mobility server maintains a directory for updating the location information of the mobile terminal pursuant to its registration or unregistration in the PSN. Accordingly, when a mobile terminal receives a call while roaming in a visited service area or located in a home service area, the call is routed using the registration information in the mobility server whereby the need for establishing an inter-MSC trunk is obviated.
L'invention concerne un système et un procédé de réalisation d'un schéma d'enregistrement double d'un terminal (112) mobile dans un réseau (102) de télécommunication sans fil doté d'une partie de réseau cellulaire et d'une partie (108) de réseau de commutation par paquets. Dès qu'il détecte le déplacement ou la mise en marche du terminal mobile dans la zone de service associée à un système de service, le système de service commence à enregistrer le terminal mobile dans l'infrastructure cellulaire. Ensuite, le système de service met en place une messagerie appropriée via une passerelle (116) disposée entre les parties de réseau cellulaire et de commutation par paquets en direction d'un serveur (306) de mobilité disposé dans le réseau de commutation par paquets, afin de faciliter l'enregistrement du terminal mobile dans le réseau. Le serveur de mobilité comprend un répertoire de mise à jour des informations de localisation du terminal mobile en fonction de son enregistrement ou de son non-enregistrement dans le réseau de commutation par paquets. Ainsi, lorsqu'un terminal mobile reçoit un appel alors qu'il se trouve dans une zone de service visitée ou dans une zone de service locale, l'appel est acheminé grâce aux informations d'enregistrement dans le serveur de mobilité, ce qui élimine la nécessité d'établir une liaison entre centrales du service mobile.
