A system and method for tracking and monitoring vehicles on a roadway. RFID tags (111, 112, 113) are positioned along the roadway (110) and may be interrogated by vehicles (120) equipped with an RFTD scanner (121) and a transceiver (122) as the vehicles (120) encounter the RFID tags (111, 112, 113) along the roadway (110). The RFID tag information received by the RFTD scanner (121) is transmitted by the transceiver (122) to a roadside repeater station (130) which in turn sends the RFTD tag information, as well as other identifying information, to a remote central tracking station (140). The remote central tracking station (140) processes the RFID tag information and other information to determine a current position of a corresponding vehicle (120). Driver ranking profiles may be generated for drivers of vehicles and stored in a database (142) in the central tracking station (140). The driver ranking profiles are used to restrict drivers in certain ways.
L'invention concerne un système et un procédé destinés au suivi et au contrôle de véhicules sur une voie de circulation.
