A system and method provide comprehensive and highly automated testing of vulnerabilities to intrusion on a target network (310), including identification of operating system, identification of target network topology and target computers, identification of open target ports, assessment of vulnerabilities (364) on target ports, active assessment of vulnerabilities based on information acquired from target computers (344), quantitative assessment of target network security and vulnerability, and hierarchical graphical representation of the target network, target computers, and vulnerabilities in a test report. The system and method employ minimally obtrusive techniques to avoid interference with or damage to the target network during or after testing.
L'invention concerne un système et un procédé permettant de contrôler de manière exhaustive et hautement automatisée les vulnérabilités d'un réseau cible (310) en matière d'intrusion. Ce procédé comprend les étapes consistant à : identifier le système d'exploitation, identifier la topologie du réseau cible ainsi que les ordinateurs cibles, identifier les ports cibles ouverts, évaluer les vulnérabilités (364) des ports cibles, évaluer activement les vulnérabilités en fonction d'informations acquises à partir des ordinateurs cibles (344), évaluer quantitativement la sécurité et la vulnérabilité du réseau cible, et représenter de manière graphique et hiérarchique le réseau cible, les ordinateurs cibles et les vulnérabilités dans un compte rendu de contrôle. Ce système et ce procédé font appel à des techniques discrètes pour éviter d'interférer avec le réseau cible ou de l'endommager pendant ou après le processus de contrôle.
