The present invention relates to a system and method for providing location determination in a configured environment in which Global Navigation Satellite System Signals are not available. In this regard, local beacon systems generate spread spectrum CDMA signals that are received by spectral compression units that derive physically meaningful observations without a requirement for correlation of the intercepted energy by means of the known spreading codes. The invention can coexist with communication assets already in place, and the design allows for self calibration, which simplifies installation and usage. The invention has utility in applications in which GNSS signals are unavailable or limited, for example, in warehouse inventory management, in search and rescue operations and in asset tracking in indoor environments.
L'invention concerne un système et un procédé de détermination de position dans un environnement configuré où les signaux de système mondial de navigation par satellite (GNSS) ne sont pas disponibles. A cet égard, les systèmes de balisage locaux génèrent des signaux AMRC à spectre étalé reçus par des unités de compression spectrale qui dérivent des observations significatives sur le plan physique sans avoir besoin de mettre en corrélation l'énergie interceptée au moyen des codes d'étalement connus. L'invention peut coexister avec des dispositifs de communication déjà en place, et la conception permet un auto-étalonnage qui simplifie l'installation et l'utilisation. L'invention est utile aux applications dans lesquelles la disponibilité des signaux GNSS est inexistante ou limitée, par exemple la gestion des stocks d'un entrepôt, les opérations de recherche et de sauvetage et la localisation de biens dans les environnements intérieurs.
