System and methods for providing multimedia message service (MMS) interoperability between an initiating carrier and a destination carrier. A transcoding facility receives an MMS message from an initiating carrier and accesses a number portability database to determine an identity of a destination carrier to which the MMS message is intended to be sent and a carrier profile repository to obtain a carrier profile for the destination carrier, the carrier profile including information regarding an MMS format acceptable to the destination carrier. The transcoding facility determines, based on the carrier profile and a format of the MMS message received from the initiating carrier, whether the format of the MMS message received from the initiating carrier must be modified to be effectively received by the destination carrier and, if so, transcodes the MMS message in accordance with the carrier profile to generate a transcoded MMS message, and thereafter sends one of (i) the MMS message received from the initiating carrier and (ii) the transcoded MMS message to the destination carrier.
L'invention concerne un système et des procédés permettant de mettre en oeuvre une interopérabilité de services de messages multimédia (MMS) entre une porteuse d'origine et une porteuse de destination. Une installation de transcodage reçoit un message MMS provenant d'une porteuse d'origine, et accède à un certain nombre de bases de données de portabilité afin de déterminer l'identité de porteuse de destination vers laquelle le message MMS est supposé être envoyé et à un référentiel de profils de porteuse afin d'obtenir un profil de porteuse pour la porteuse de destination, ledit profil de porteuse comprenant des informations relatives au format MMS acceptable sur la porteuse de destination. L'installation de transcodage détermine, en fonction du profil de porteuse et du format du message MMS reçu de la porteuse d'origine, si le format dudit message MMS doit être modifié pour être effectivement reçu par la porteuse de destination et, le cas échéant, transcode le message MMS en fonction du profil de porteuse afin de générer un message MMS transcodé, puis envoie l'un (i) des messages MMS reçu de la porteuse d'origine et le message MMS transcodé (ii) à la porteuse de destination.
