A system and method is provided for provisioning component applications for retrieval by a device. The system includes an application gateway server which comprises a message broker for communicating between the system and the device. The application gateway server is configured for communication with a provisioning server , a discovery server, and a packing application. The provisioning server comprises a provisioning service configured to service a provisioning request and a provisioning depot configured to store packaged component applications. The discovery server is configured to store and manage component application bundles. The packaging application is configured to retrieve a component application bundle, select elements from the component application bundle in accordance with the device for which the component application is being provisioned, create a component application package using the selected elements, and make the component application package available for the device to retrieve.
