A system and method for remotely monitoring conditions at a location and for controlling devices at the location. The inventive system includes: a data link in communication with an electronically readable instrument, the data link having a transceiver configured for wireless digital communication; and a data gate having a wireless transceiver configured to communicate with one or more data links, the data gate also having an interface for connection to a communication network such as a land-line telephone network, cellular/pcs network, satellite communication network, or the like. In a preferred embodiment, the data gate communicates with a server via the communication network where the information from the electronically readable instrument is processed and made available to other devices over a computer network.
L'invention concerne un système et un procédé de télésurveillance de conditions au niveau d'un emplacement et de contrôle de dispositifs au niveau dudit emplacement. Le système selon l'invention comprend : une liaison de données communiquant avec un instrument lisible électroniquement, la liaison de données présentant un émetteur-récepteur conçu pour une communication numérique sans fil ; ainsi qu'une porte de données présentant un émetteur-récepteur sans fil conçu pour communiquer avec une ou plusieurs liaisons de données, la porte de données présentant également une interface de connexion à un réseau de communication tel qu'un réseau téléphonique fixe, un réseau cellulaire/pcs, un réseau de communication par satellite ou analogue. Dans un mode de réalisation préféré, la porte de données communique avec un serveur par l'intermédiaire du réseau de communication, les informations de l'instrument lisible électroniquement étant traitées et mises à disposition d'autres dispositifs sur un réseau informatique.
