Described is a system and method for resilient coverage in a wireless environment. The system may include a first wireless device (110) having a first wireless transceiver; a second wireless device (125) having a second wireless transceiver; and an envelope detection arrangement ("EDA") (540) coupled to the second wireless device. The second wireless device has a first communication mode and a second communication mode. The second wireless transceiver conducts wireless communications with the first wireless transceiver using a predetermined wireless communication protocol (e.g., IEEE 802.11/16) only when the second wireless device is in the first communication mode. The second wireless transceiver is in a low-power state when in the second communication mode. The EDA screens radio frequency signals for a signal having a predetermined envelope sequence; the signal is generated according to the same predetermined wireless communication protocol. When the EDA receives the signal, the arrangement causes the second wireless device to switch into the first communication mode.
L'invention concerne un système et un procédé permettant de fournir une desserte souple dans un environnement sans fil. Le système peut comprendre un premier dispositif sans fil (110) comportant un premier émetteur-récepteur sans fil ; un second dispositif sans fil (125) comportant un second émetteur-récepteur sans fil ; et un moyen de détection d'enveloppe (<= EDA >=) (540) couplé au second dispositif sans fil. Ce second dispositif sans fil peut être utilisé dans un premier mode de communication et dans un second mode de communication. Le second émetteur-récepteur sans fil permet d'établir des communications sans fil avec le premier émetteur-récepteur sans fil à l'aide d'un protocole de communication sans fil prédéterminé (le protocole IEEE 802.11/16, par exemple) uniquement lorsque le second dispositif sans fil est utilisé dans le premier mode de communication. Le second émetteur-récepteur sans fil fonctionne dans un mode d'économie d'énergie lorsqu'il est dans le second mode de communication. Le moyen de détection d'enveloppe permet d'analyser les signaux RF pour détecter un signal possédant une séquence d'enveloppe prédéterminée. Le signal est produit sur la base du même protocole de communication sans fil prédéterminé. Lorsque le moyen de détection d'enveloppe reçoit le signal, il fait passer le second dispositif sans fil dans le premier mode de communication.
