ABSTRACT Solid waste is transported to a hydrogasifying reactor and commingled with a hot synthesis gas under pressure. The synthesis gas dries the solid waste and converts a part tc methane. The remainder passed out of the reactor in the form of a char which is subsequently transported to a gasification reactor where it is mixed with oxygen and water vapor which converts it to a synthesis gas. The latter synthesis gas is then transported to the hydrogasifying reactor for receiving the next charge of solid waste.
