A system for the production or handling of heavy oil comprises means (18) for introducing an immiscible viscosity-reducing fluid into the heavy oil at an upstream end of a flow line (10,22) to create a dispersion of oil and viscosity-reducing fluid, and means (24,30) for separating the viscosity- reducing fluid at least partially from the oil at a downstream end of the flow line. The separating means comprises a cyclonic fluid conditioning unit (24) connected receive the dispersion of oil and viscosity-reducing fluid from the downstream end of the flow line (22), said cyclonic fluid conditioning unit being constructed and arranged to subject the dispersion to a cyclonic conditioning process, and a gravity separator unit (30) connected to receive the conditioned dispersion from the cyclonic fluid conditioning unit. The gravity separator unit (30) is constructed and arranged to allow at least partial separation of the viscosity-reducing fluid from the oil and has a first outlet for the separated viscosity-reducing fluid and. a second outlet for the separated oil.
La présente invention concerne un système permettant de produire ou de manipuler de l'huile lourde, lequel système comprend un moyen (18) permettant d'introduire un fluide réducteur de viscosité non miscible dans de l'huile lourde à une extrémité amont d'une ligne d'écoulement (10,22) de manière à créer une dispersion d'huile et de fluide réducteur de viscosité; et un moyen (24,30) permettant de séparer le fluide réducteur de viscosité au moins en partie de l'huile à une extrémité aval de la ligne d'écoulement. Le moyen de séparation comprend une unité de conditionnement de fluide cyclonique (24) relié de manière à recevoir la dispersion d'huile et de fluide réducteur de viscosité provenant de l'extrémité aval de la ligne d'écoulement (22); l'unité de conditionnement de fluide étant conçue pour soumettre la dispersion à un processus de conditionnement cyclonique; et une unité de séparation par gravité (30) relié de manière à recevoir la dispersion conditionnée provenant de l'unité de conditionnement de fluide. L'unité de séparation par gravité (30) est conçue de manière à permettre la séparation au moins partielle du fluide réducteur de viscosité et de l'huile et elle présente un premier orifice de sortie destiné au fluide réducteur de viscosité et un second orifice de sortie destiné à l'huile séparée.
