A method for segmentation of a structure in a set of two-dimensional magnetic resonance images is described herein. The method comprising the steps of: receiving the set of magnetic resonance images, identifying the structure contour on the first image of the set, filling the structure contour on the first image of the set, cleaning the first image of the set, and for each of the other images in the set, estimating the center of the structure in the previous image, finding the pixel corresponding to the contour of the structure for predetermined angular positions about the estimated center position, closing the contour by connecting the pixels and filling the structure contour.
