In a system having a PLMN (12) and a WLAN IP GW (30), an Iur interface providing handover between a PLMN and the WIP-GW. Mobile internet protocol (Mobile IP) provides session management and data tunneling between the PLMN (home agent) and the WLAN. The WIP-GW functions as the foreign agent toward the PLMN. Services are provided by the PLMN MIP over DIAMETER for registration, authentication and subscriber management, working into the HLR/HSS (14) and the CGF (18) in the PLMN. The use of a single architecture to support the loose inter-working scenarios is such that the architecture minus the Iur interface and MIP becomes a loose inter-working architecture. The UMTS PLMN billing platform is made via the DIAMETER/UMTS inter-working. Authentication is provided by the UMTS PLMN HSS/HLR. The architecture concept can be broadened to cover the inter-working of other access technologies with UMTS.
Dans un système possédant un réseau mobile terrestre public (PLMN) et une passerelle IP de réseau WLAN, une interface Iur permet un transfert entre un réseau PLMN et la passerelle WIP-GW. Le protocole Internet mobile (Mobile IP) permet la gestion de session et la tunnelisation des données entre ce réseau PLMN (agent à domicile) et le réseau WLAN. La passerelle WIP-GW fonctionne comme l'agent étranger dirigé vers le réseau PLMN. Le protocole MIP du réseau PLMN fournit des services via le protocole DIAMETER en vue d'un enregistrement, d'une authentification et une gestion d'abonné, travaillant dans le HLR/HSS et dans le CGF dans le réseau PLMN. L'utilisation d'une seule architecture pour prendre en charge les scénarii d'interconnectabilité perdue est telle que cette architecture réduit l'interface Iur et le protocole MIP devient une architecture d'interconnectabilité perdue. La plate-forme de facturation de réseau PLMM UMTS est constituée via l'interconnectabilité DIAMETER/UMTS. L'enregistreur HSS/HLR du réseau PLMN UMTS fournit l'authentification. Ce concept d'architecture peut être élargi de façon à couvrir l'interconnectabilité d'autres technologies d'accès avec l'UMTS.
