A bulk material transportation system accelerates the bulk material to a selected velocity and mixes it with an airflow. When moving through the delivery pipe, the airflow forms a laminar airflow with the slower layer of the airflow occurring adjacent the inner surface of the pipe and the higher velocity layers of the airflow occurring toward the center of the pipe. As the bulk material moves through the pipe, its velocity is increased by the higher velocity layers and is inhibited from making frictional contact with the inner surface of the pipe by the lower speed layers. The bulk material thus flows through the delivery pipe with little contact with the interior of the delivery pipe.
