A system (20) delivers fibroblasts to a region of cardiac tissue at a location associated with a cardiac arrhythmia in a patient to form a conduction block in the region. A cardiac delivery system (20) is coupled to a source the fibroblasts (15) and delivers the fibroblasts to the location to form a conduction block. Substantial cardiac ablation is thus avoided. A contact member (430) is shaped to correspond with a patterned region of tissue for delivering the fibroblasts along the pattern, such as linear, curvilinear, or circumferential patterns as required for treating particular arrhythmias. A pulmonary vein isolation assembly has an expandable or loop shaped member cooperating with a needle array that delivers the fibroblast cells into a circumferential region of tissue engaged by the expandable member where a pulmonary vein extends from an atrium. Methods include providing the fibroblast cells as autologous cells in an injectable preparation.
L'invention concerne un système (20) alimentant des fibroblastes à une partie d'un tissu cardiaque, dans une zone associée à une arythmie cardiaque chez un malade, de manière à former un bloc de conduction dans ladite partie. Ledit système d'alimentation cardiaque (20) est couplé à une source de fibroblastes (15) et alimente les fibroblastes à ladite zone de manière à former le bloc de conduction, toute ablation importante de tissus cardiaques étant ainsi évitée. Un élément de contact (430) est formé de manière à correspondre à une partie de tissu modélisée de manière à alimenter les fibroblastes le long du modèle pouvant être linéaire, curviligne ou périphérique dans le cas d'arythmies particulières. Un ensemble d'isolement de veine pulmonaire comporte un élément expansible ou en forme de boucle interagissant avec un réseau d'aiguilles alimentant les cellules de fibroblastes dans une partie périphérique de tissu saisie par l'élément expansible, dans laquelle une veine pulmonaire s'étend à partir d'une oreillette. L'invention concerne également des procédés consistant à mettre en oeuvre les cellules de fibroblastes en tant que cellules autologues dans une préparation destinée à être injectée.
