A system and method for updating one or more files on a computing device are provided. A client computing device obtains update information including an index identifying particular delta patches with specific versions of installed files. Upon selecting which of the applicable will be implemented, an update agent on the client computing device performs an inventory to identify which version a file to be updated is installed on the machine. The update agent selects a corresponding delta patch and transmits the request to an update service.
L'invention concerne un système et un procédé servant à actualiser un ou plusieurs fichiers sur une unité informatique. Selon l'invention, une unité informatique client obtient des informations d'actualisation comprenant un index identifiant des correctifs delta particuliers correspondant à des versions spécifiques de fichiers installés. Pour choisir laquelle des mises à jour applicables sera implémentée, un agent d'actualisation sur l'unité informatique client effectue un inventaire afin d'identifier quelle version d'un fichier à actualiser est installée sur la machine. L'agent d'actualisation sélectionne alors un correctif delta correspondant et transmet la demande à un service d'actualisation.
