La présente invention concerne un système et un procédé d'authentification de biens en vente sur un réseau. Ce procédé consiste à associer des caractères d'identification de produit à un produit à vendre sur ce réseau. Ce produit est ensuite acheté via ce réseau et ce produit possède ces caractères d'identification de produit qui lui sont associés. A réception du produit acheté, les caractères associés à ce produit sont analysés et communiqués à un dispositif d'authentification. L'authenticité de ces caractères est alors déterminée par l'utilisation du dispositif d'authentification et cette détermination est communiquée à l'acheteur. Cette invention comprend aussi la possibilité de vérifier que le vendeur est bien autorisé à vendre ces biens spécifiques.
