A system (fig. 1 ) and method for wirelessly transferring content to and from a vehicle (108), in particular, an aircraft. The content includes, for example, data, voice, video and multimedia, that can be wirelessly exchanged over a wireless communication link between an aircraft and a ground station (106) while the aircraft is at or near a parking gate, or between aircraft. In an example, the system employs long distance metropolitan area technology, such as IEEE Standard 802.16 wireless technology, to increase transfer range. The parameter of the wireless communication link can be adjusted based on, for example, the location of the link. The content can further be provided between the vehicle and ground station based on priorities, such as the available link speed, importance of the information, and/or anticipated connection time between the vehicle and ground station.
L'invention concerne un système et un procédé destinés à transférer sans fil un contenu d'un véhicule et vers celui-ci, en particulier un aéronef. Le contenu comprend, par exemple, des données, des enregistrements vocaux, vidéo et multimédias qui peuvent être échangés sans fil sur une liaison de communications sans fil entre un aéronef et une station de base, alors que l'aéronef est situé sur une passerelle de stationnement, ou à proximité de celle-ci, ou encore entre des aéronefs. Par exemple, le système utilise la technologie de la région métropolitaine longue distance, telle que la technologie sans fil répondant à la norme IEEE 802.16, ce qui permet d'améliorer la portée du transfert. Le paramètre de la liaison de communications sans fil peut être réglé sur la base, par exemple, de l'emplacement de la liaison. Le contenu peut, de plus, être transféré entre le véhicule et la station de base, sur la base de priorités, telles que la vitesse de liaison disponible, l'importance des informations, et/ou le temps de connexion anticipé entre le véhicule et la station de base.
