A system and method of making an in-mold clear-coated composite with a predetermined degree of finish. After a mold (20) is heated, unpigmented first- reactant and second-reactant solvent mixtures are combined to form a clear coat mixture that is sprayed onto the heated mold surface to form a clear coating (12). Next, pigmented third-reactant and fourth-reactant solvent mixtures are combined to form a pigmented mixture that is sprayed onto the previously sprayed clear-coat mixture during the open time of the clear-coat mixture to form a pigmented coating (10). A substrate-forming material (14) is then applied over the sprayed pigmented mixture to create an uncured preform. Following curing, the preform forms a substrate with a clear-coat surface having a finish reflective of the finish of the mold surface (21).

L'invention concerne un système et un procédé de fabrication d'un composite à revêtement transparent surmoulé doté d'un degré de finition prédéterminé. Après avoir chauffé un moule (20), on associe des mélanges de solvant à premier et second réactif non pigmentés en vue de former un mélange de revêtement transparent pulvérisé sur la surface du moule chauffé afin d'obtenir un revêtement transparent (12). Ensuite, on associe des mélanges de solvant à troisième et quatrième réactif pigmentés afin d'obtenir un mélange pigmenté qui sera pulvérisé sur le mélange de revêtement transparent préalablement pulvérisé pendant le délai de collage du mélange de revêtement transparent afin de composer un revêtement pigmenté (10). On applique alors un matériau (14) de formation de substrat sur le mélange pigmenté pulvérisé afin de créer une préforme non cuite. Suite à la cuisson, la préforme forme un substrat doté d'une surface à revêtement transparent présentant une finition réfléchissant la finition de la surface du moule (21).
