A system (1) is described for automatically controlling the flight of at least one power wing airfoil (2) , comprising first detecting means (3) on board of such power wing airfoil (2) adapted to detect first pieces of information (3a) dealing with at least one position and one orientation in space of the power wing airfoil (2) and accelerations to which the power wing airfoil (2) is subjected; second detecting means (5) on the ground adapted to detect tension on the driving cables (21) of the power wing airfoil (2) and a position of a driving unit (9) counterweight; processing and controlling means (7) adapted to transform the contents of such information (3a, 5a) into a mechanical drive operating on the winches of the driving unit (9) to drive the power wing airfoil (2) along a flight trajectory TVl, TV2 , TV3, ..., TVn maximising a "lift" effect generated on the power wing airfoil (2) . A process is further described for automatically controlling the flight of at least one power wing airfoil (2) through the system (1) .
La présente invention présente un système (1) permettant de piloter automatiquement le vol d'au moins un profil d'aile motrice (2), ledit système comprenant un premier moyen de détection (3) embarqué sur un tel profil d'aile motrice (2) et conçu pour détecter les premiers éléments d'informations (3a) concernant au moins une position et au moins une orientation dans l'espace de ce profil d'aile motrice (2) ainsi que les accélérations à laquelle ce même profil d'aile motrice (2) est soumis ; un second moyen de détection (5) situé au sol et conçu pour détecter une tension s'appliquant aux câbles d'entraînement (21) du profil d'aile motrice (2) ainsi qu'une position du contrepoids d'une unité d'entraînement (9); des moyens de traitement et de commande (7) conçus pour convertir la teneur de ces informations (3a, 5a) en une action mécanique motrice agissant sur les treuils de l'unité d'entraînement (9) de façon à faire suivre au profil d'aile motrice (2) une trajectoire de vol TV1, TV2, TV3,...,TVn qui optimise l'effet de <= portance >= s'appliquant au profil d'aile motrice (2). L'invention concerne également une méthode destinée à piloter automatiquement le vol d'au moins un profil d'aile motrice (2) via le système (1).
