A system and a process for determining the timing and position of contestants on a track comprises at least one set of two trapezoidal shaped loops (20) that have a longitudinal axis that project from an inside rail to an outside rail on the track. There is also at least one competitor communication device (10) that can be coupled to each contestant. A remote base station (205) is in communication with the positioning device wherein the positioning device determines a contestant time as the contestant passes the wire loop (20) and also determines the position of the contestant in relation to an inside guide such as a rail. A relay (17) positioned in the center of the track can also be used to increase the signal flowing between the base station and the positioning device.
L'invention concerne un système et un procédé permettant de déterminer les temps et la position de concurrents sur une piste. Le système comprend au moins une série de deux boucles trapézoïdales possédant un axe longitudinal qui s'étend entre un rail interne et un rail externe, ainsi qu'au moins un dispositif de transmission pouvant être fixé sur chaque concurrent. Une station de base éloignée communique avec le dispositif de positionnement. Le dispositif de positionnement permet de déterminer un temps du concurrent lorsque celui-ci dépasse la boucle de fil, ainsi que la position du concurrent par rapport à un guide interne, tel qu'un rail. Un relais disposé au centre de la piste peut également être utilisé pour augmenter la qualité de transmission des signaux entre la station de base et le dispositif de positionnement. Le procédé de l'invention consiste à fixer au moins un dispositif de transmission sur au moins un concurrent, puis, après le départ de la course et durant la course, à enregistrer la position et les temps de chaque concurrent. Le dispositif de transmission est conçu pour transmettre des signaux à la station de base, les signaux étant synchronisés pour éviter les interférences.
