A system and process capable of conducting a transaction which utilizes a terminal and a first transaction card (e.g., a credit card). The terminal (e.g., a payment or credit card terminal) can perform at least one transaction- related service. A second card (e.g., a control card such as a smart/chip card) is provided to communicate with the terminal. The terminal can be controlled using data (e.g., an executable application) stored on the second card to provide the transaction-related service for the transaction.
