One embodiment of the present application includes a spinal disk prosthesis (30) with one end portion (32a) to form a load transmitting relationship with one vertebra of a patient's spine and another end portion (32b) to form a load transmitting relationship with another vertebra of the patient's spine. A tube (52) connects the end portions (32a, 32b) together and a damping material (60) is positioned inside the tube (52) . The end portions (32a, 32b) each include a magnet (40a, 40b) to generate a corresponding magnetic field. These magnetic fields are oriented to provide a repulsive force between the end portions (32a, 32b) to provide a magnetic bearing.
Un mode de réalisation de la présente invention concerne une prothèse de disque vertébral (30) pourvue d'une première section d'extrémité (32a), destinée à établir une relation de transmission de charge avec une vertèbre de la colonne vertébrale d'un patient, et d'une autre section d'extrémité (32b), destinée à établir une relation de transmission de charge avec l'autre vertèbre de la colonne vertébrale du patient. Un tube (52) relie les sections d'extrémité (32a, 32b) et un matériau amortisseur (60) est placé à l'intérieur du tube (52). Les sections d'extrémité (32a, 32b) sont chacune pourvues d'un aimant (40a, 40b) prévu pour générer un champ magnétique correspondant. Ces champs magnétiques sont orientés de manière à créer une force de répulsion entre les sections d'extrémité (32a, 32b) pour fournir un support magnétique.
