A binder/trimmer (1) is disclosed in which a book block (BB) is placed in a carriage (7), jogged to align the pages, and then transported to a milling station (MS) in which the spine (S) of the book block is milled to roughen the spine, then to an adhesive application station (AS) at which a suitable adhesive is applied to the spine, and thence to a binding station (BS) at which the spine of the book is brought into engagement with the center portion (CP) of a cover (C) and at which a binding clamp (35) forces the cover against the outer faces of the book block proximate to the spine and then to a trimming station (TS). At the trimming station, the book is deposited in a nest (41) and is positioned relative to a trimming blade (63) which is actuated to trim a first edge of the book to a predetermined dimension. The book is then rotated to trim second and third edges thus resulting in a perfect bound book accurately trimmed to a predetermined size. A method of binding and trimming a perfect bound book is also disclosed.
L'invention concerne une relieuse/massicot (1) dans laquelle un bloc livre (BB) est placé sur un chariot (7), taqué pour aligner les pages, et puis transporté vers une station d'échoppage (MS) à laquelle le dos (S) du bloc livre est échoppé pour le dépolir. Ledit bloc est ensuite acheminé vers une station d'application d'adhésif (AS) à laquelle un adhésif approprié est appliqué sur le dos, puis vers une station de reliure (BS) à laquelle le dos du livre est mis en contact avec la partie centrale (CP) d'une couverture (C) et une attache de reliure (35) force la couverture contre les surfaces externes du bloc livre directement contre le dos, et enfin vers une station de rognure (TS). A cette station, le livre est déposé dans une cavité (41) et est placé par rapport à une lame de massicot (63) qui est actionnée pour rogner un premier bord du livre à une dimension prédéterminée. Le livre est ensuite tourné afin de rogner les second et troisième bords, ce qui produit un livre relié sans couture, rogné avec précision à une taille prédéterminée. L'invention concerne également un procédé de reliure et de rognure d'un livre relié sans couture.
