When closed, switches in pads select toy vehicles and the operation of motors for moving the vehicles in any desired direction and for moving a receptacle for holding transportable elements (e.g. marbles). When sequentially and cyclically interrogated by a central station in one embodiment, each pad sends through wires to the station signals indicating the switch closures in such pad. Such station produces first binary signals addressing the vehicle selected by such pad and second binary signals identifying the motor control operations in such vehicle. The first and second signals for each vehicle are transmitted by the central station by wireless to all of the vehicles at a common carrier frequency modulated by the first and second binary signals. The vehicle identified by the transmitted address demodulates the modulating signals and operates its motors in accordance with such demodulation. When the station fails to receive signals from a pad for a particular period of time, the vehicle selected by such pad becomes available for selection by another pad and such pad can select that vehicle or another vehicle. Stationary accessories (e.g. elevator) connected by wires to the central station become operative when selected by the pads. In another embodiment, individual ones of the pads control the operation of individual ones of the vehicles without the inclusion of a central station.

Lorsque la station ne reçoit plus de signaux d'un boîtier pendant une certaine période, le véhicule choisi par un tel boîtier devient disponible pour un autre boîtier, lequel peut choisir ce véhicule-là ou un autre. Des accessoires fixes (par exemple un dispositif élévateur), reliés par des fils à la station centrale, deviennent fonctionnels lorsqu'ils sont choisis au moyen des boîtiers. Dans un autre mode de réalisation, des boîtiers peuvent individuellement commander le fonctionnement individuel de véhicules, sans l'adjonction d'une station centrale.
