A variable C-channel mounted within the berth of an unpowered hull pinches the rub-rail of a personal watercraft to retain the personal watercraft within the berth for providing motive power to the hull. The jaws of the C-channel can be raised and lowered either independently to adjust the width of the channel or in unison to adjust the elevation of the channel. The jaws can also be laterally extended or retracted to adjust the depth of the channel.
