ABSTRACT A system is disclosed for controlling the opera- tion of a reciprocating device, such as a reciprocating fluid pump, utilized within a small diameter wellbore log- ging tool. The system includes a pump having an input in fluid communication with the source fluid, a 4-way sliding valve in fluid communication with an output of the pump for controlling the flow of fluid to operate the recipro- cating device, and a 4-way control valve in fluid communi- cation with the output of the pump for controlling the flow of fluid to operate the sliding valve.
