27 SYSTEM FOR CONVERTING MECHANICAL ENERGY PRODUCED BY THE ENGINE OF A CONVENTIONAL MOTOR VEHICLE INTO AN ELECTRICAL CURRENT SUITABLE FOR POWERING HOUSEHOLDS PRODUCTS ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: A system for converting a portion of the mechanical energy produced by the engine of a conventional motor vehicle into an electrical current which is suitable for powering conventional household appliances. The system thus allows a conventional motor vehicle to be temporarily used as a backup source of electrical energy. The system uses a modified alternator having a non-rectified output. The multi-phased current produced by the modified alternator is first sent to a multi-phase step-up transformer which increases its voltage value. The current emanating from the transformer is then rectified by a bridge rectifier and stabilized by a voltage regulator. The current is then used to charge a capacitor. The electric charge of the capacitor is converted either electronically or mechanically into an alternative current having a voltage value and a frequency value compatible with conventional household appliances.
